Easy Solar’s Nthabiseng Mosia Among Top 20 Finalists in 2023 Africa Business Heroes
Easy Solar, a leading distributor of solar energy solutions in West Africa, is thrilled to announce that its Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer, Nthabiseng Mosia, has been selected as one of the esteemed top 20 finalists in the prestigious 2023 Africa Business Heroes (ABH) Competition. She is the first entrepreneur with primary operations in Sierra Leone to reach this stage of the highly competitive prize that had over 27,000 entrepreneurs across the African continent.
Africa Business Heroes is an annual flagship philanthropic program, in its fifth year, initiated by the Jack Ma Foundation with the mission to identify, spotlight, and support exemplary African entrepreneurs who are driving positive change and making significant contributions to their communities.
Easy Solar is Sierra Leone’s leading provider of solar energy solutions and life improving products on credit (like smartphones and clean cookstoves). To date the company has reached over 1 million people in Sierra Leone, with over 300 distribution points in all 16 districts.
According to Nthabiseng Mosia, initiatives like the Africa Business Heroes are critical for spotlighting the existing entrepreneurial ecosystem in Africa. Mosia says, “So many stories about Africa emphasise how we are in need of external saviours, however, programs like ABH demonstrate that we as Africans have the potential to become our own heroes and create solutions for the problems to which we are proximate.”
The next phase of the competition will involve a pitch for the semi-finalists in Kigali, Rwanda to compete for a spot in the Top 10 and a share of the $1.5mn in grand prizes.
